Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation San Diego on June 27, 2010 was a huge success! The event welcomed over 200 people and raised over $20,000 to fight childhood hunger locally and nationally!

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Hotel Del Coronado to enjoy the specialties of more than 30 of the city’s top restaurants, wineries and spirits for a superb evening. This year’s event theme gave guests the opportunity to experience the Golden Age of Hollywood while enjoying the panoramic views from the ballroom at the Hotel Del Coronado. The Stilettos, featuring Tommy Price on lead vocals, provided live entertainment. The Stilettos featured some of the best tunes from the 50’s & 60’s, as well as contemporary rockabilly and swing. A special VIP cooking demonstration in a private room where San Diego’s own Chef Brian Malarkey gave a sneak preview of his new restaurant Searsucker.Ted Glennon, wine director and sommelier of the Hotel Del Coronado gave a special wine presentation for VIP guests onlyTaste of the Nation San Diego also included a silent and live auction featuring unique delights donated by our local community.
Proceeds locally benefit the San Diego Hunger Coalition and Catholic Charities of San Diego. Both organizations are fighting to end childhood hunger in Santa Barbara.
Each ticket purchased helps support Share Our Strength’s efforts in eliminating childhood hunger as well as our local beneficiaries. In the wake of staggering reports that nearly half of all children in the U.S. will be on food stamps at the some point in their life, there is no time to waste. The time to act is now.

Share Our Strength®, a national nonprofit, is ending childhood hunger in America by connecting children with the nutritious food they need to lead healthy, active lives. Through its No Kid Hungry Campaign™, —a national effort to end childhood hunger in America by 2015—Share Our Strength ensures children in need are enrolled in effective federal nutrition programs, invests in community organizations fighting hunger, teaches families how to cook healthy meals on a budget, and builds public-private partnerships to end hunger, both nationally and at the state level. Working closely with the culinary industry and relying on the strength of its volunteers, Share Our Strength hosts innovative culinary fundraising events and develops pioneering cause marketing campaigns that support No Kid Hungry.
