2010 Event Special Guests Announced

The stars are lining up to help fight childhood hunger in New Haven.

Judi Barrett, the Nationally renowned children's author, will be on hand to autograph her popular book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

Jacques Pépin, the world renowned host of his acclaimed and popular cooking programs on public television, and prolific author, respected instructor, and gifted artist will be attending as the Honorary Chef Chairman.

Faith Middleton, host of the popular show "The Food Schmooze" on WNPR, will also serve as an Honorary Chair of the event.

Suvir Saran, the creative force behind American Masala and Devi restaurants and author of Indian Home Cooking was most recently named Chairman, Asian Culinary Studies for the CIA's World Cuisines Council.

Peter Salovey, Yale Provost and professor of Psychology, joins Taste of the Nation New Haven as an Honorary Chair.

Kristen Cusato and Chris Velardi of News Channel 8 will be volunteering their time and talent to emcee the event.

Nicole Zuraitis, your entertainer for the evening, is a jazz and soul singer-songwriter and pianist who has a voice that the Harford Advocate says performs "acrobatic leaps and flips across a sprawling vocal range." Visit Nicole's website.

Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Matt Scott will be lending his talents and joining as our auctioneer for the evening.

Hunger in Connecticut

On average 105,806 (13%) children under 18 years of age are food insecure. -- Feeding America Report, May 2009

Hunger in New Haven:

24.2% of people live below the poverty line. (The national average household income of a family living below the poverty line is less than $21,834 per year.) -- U.S. Census Bureau, ACS, 2007
