- Farm Bill Cuts Leave More Kids at Risk of Hunger [ No comments]

Last week, the House Agriculture Committee passed a Farm Bill that cuts more than $16 billion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps). These egregious cuts will cause up to 3 million Americans to lose access to their SNAP benefits entirely, and would kick nearly 300,000 children off of free school meal programs. Simply put, this bill will leave more kids in America at risk of hunger.

As a chef, I have a lifelong passion for food. My job is to feed people. So I was honored when Share Our Strength asked me to present a letter to Congress yesterday on behalf of nearly 400 fellow chefs and members of the culinary community, asking our elected representatives to protect kids at risk of hunger.
