Our team had an experience this week that I want to share with you. As part of a staff summer service day, more than 90 Share Our Strength team members visited some of the highest need neighborhoods in Baltimore, MD to spread the word about free summer meals and activities for kids.

A pastor, a university professor, and a mother and baby walk into Walmart. That’s not the beginning of a joke; it was the scene at Walmart in the Port Covington neighborhood in Baltimore earlier this week. It was the unofficial “Shopping Matters Day” in Baltimore, when 70 people came out to learn how to buy health y food on a limited budget.

A Big Win for Maryland Kids [ No comments]

Today, I have the privilege of sharing with you some great news! Over the last few months, Share Our Strength and representatives from the Partnership to End Childhood Hunger in Maryland have been working together to support increased funding for Maryland Meals for Achievement (MMFA). MMFA is, an innovative Breakfast In the Classroom program administered by the Maryland State Department of Education that makes it easier for all students at 228 high-need schools across the state to receive a healthy school breakfast.
