Child hunger advocates greeted the release of Feeding America’s second annual Map the Meal Gap: Child Food Insecurity 2012 with cautious enthusiasm. Overall, the findings are positive: For households in the United States in 2010, the child food insecurity rate decreased from 23.2% in 2009 to 21.6% in 2010, resulting in 989,000 fewer food insecure children.
