What Does Hunger Feel Like?
Posted by Billy Shore on Tuesday, December 20, 2011
With poverty at an all time high across the nation, the new faces of hunger are the ones you would least expect – and they could very well be your neighbor’s kids.
Here at Share Our Strength, we’re fighting everyday to combat childhood hunger. We asked some children what hunger feels like to them – and we’re sharing what they had to say with you. It’s important that their voices are heard. No child should have to go hungry, especially in a country where food is abundant.
What’s frustrating about childhood hunger is that we know the solutions – comprehensive and strong food and nutrition programs in places where children live, learn and play - but these kids aren’t getting connected to them. As we celebrate this holiday season with family and friends, I hope you’ll take a moment to reflect on the millions of children in America who will go to sleep tonight without enough to eat. Will you help spread the word?

Please watch the video now and be sure to share with your friends and family. Every new person who commits to ending childhood hunger brings us one step closer to stamping out hunger once and for all.
You can help by making a donation today that will help end childhood hunger.

Holiday wishes to you and yours!

Poor little kids, we have to help our country first before we can help other countries.

I wish we could all have the good will to help any kid suffering from hunger without the notion of "ours kids" or "other kids". The problem is not that we don't have enough food to feed everyone on earth, it's that those who are greedy hoards tthe resources they don't need while ignoring other people's needs...

I read this blog, couldn't help but cry... You're SOO right, we DO have all the means necessary to end this tragic tale. For most children, this is NOT a choice, they are victims of whatever reasons. The end result is the same, they need our help. With the "Stitch in Time" tour in support of my debut album, I'm donating proceeds to this organization. Hopefully along the way, helping who we can that are out there with no voice. Billy, you and No Child Hungry is a treasure. Bless your hearts. (::)Buttons & Threads(::) Mike Vavrek

It should be noted that lots of food are being thrown in the garbage everyday. Even local food pantries will not accept such donations. It remains a time to reassess our priorities. What is the main purpose of our tax money, to be the policeman of the world or to feed our own children? In the name of "conservation", millions of dollars of ivory tusks have been set on time. The concern for animals seems to predominate over the concern of helping human beings. Neverthless, there are some who believe that the solution to the problem of too many mouths to feed is to destroy the lives of unborn children. It is when we have a hunger to seriously understand all the factors involved shall we be able to appease the hunger of these unfortunate children
