Imaginations of Unreasonable Men Released Today

Today is the official publication date for my new book, THE IMAGINATIONS OF UNREASONABLE MEN, published by PublicAffairs.
I think of it as a celebration of the work of so many who have overcome long odds, and of some of the lessons we’ve learned together about how to change the world. I hope it will serve to inspire others engaged in similar pursuits.
So what is the connection between this book, Share Our Strength’s anti-hunger work and our shared commitment to social change? In telling the story of the race to develop the first ever vaccine for malaria, which kills nearly a million kids in Africa every year, the book showcases the entrepreneurial strategies and qualities of character required to solve problems that affect people so voiceless, vulnerable and economically marginalized that there are no markets for solving them. That has been the task we’ve faced at Share Our Strength, and is indeed the underlying rationale for almost every nonprofit, community wealth enterprise, or international NGO.
If not for our collective ability to imagine a future that does not yet exist, but that is within our power to bring about, this book could not have been written. I’m embarking on an extensive coast-to-coast book tour over the next few months, and I hope to have a chance to connect in person with much of the Share Our Strength community at a reading or book party.
