NYC Food & Wine Festival

What’s better than a star-studded food & wine festival in beautiful weather? One that gives back to those in need!
Share Our Strength was delighted to be a part of this past weeekend’s wonderful Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival, presented by Food & Wine and Travel + Leisure magazines. One hundred percent of the net proceeds from the entire Festival, which consisted of over 120 events from culinary demos to seated dinners, are donated to Share Our Strength and The Food Bank For New York City.
Attendees traveled from all over to go to the amazing city that is New York and be a part of the culinary celebrations that highlighted all the major food groups – burgers, cocktails, dim sum, meatballs, sushi – just to name a few! Whether they came out because of the charitable component or were unaware, you can be sure all enjoyed themselves – and became educated during their time at the Festival about Share Our Strength and Food Bank For New York City. We were so pleased to have a space in both the Welcome Center and the Grand Tasting to interact with all in attendance and share with them about the work we’ve been doing, the No Kid Hungry Campaign and how they can be a part of it all. A large amount of those we spoke with were already aware of us and our work, whether through PSAs on the Food Network or previous involvement with our events as chefs or participants. They were curious about how they could get more involved. And those new to Share Our Strength were taken with our work and also wanting to find ways to help our cause.
The weekend was an incredible experience to be a part of – as an individual and a staff member. It served as a wonderful reminder that even those who are able to treat themselves to these lavish events and experiences still do truly care about those in need. And even though we had no food (or wine!) to hand out, people still wanted to talk to us and hear what we had to say. We are grateful to Lee Brian Schrager and his whole team at Southern Wine & Spirits and the staff of Karlitz for ensuring we were truly integrated throughout the Festival, as well as all Festival sponsors, Food Bank For New York City staff, and Festival attendees for being so welcoming and supportive of Share Our Strength and our work.
