Fourth Graders Speak Out Against Childhood Hunger
Posted by Bekah Meyerowitz on Wednesday, May 25, 2011
Fourth-grade teacher Sara Shaffer and her students from Kingsley Elementary School, Kingsport, TN, put together a moving documentary video to help spread the 2011 Bread Art Project message. Her support and dedication to the issue of childhood hunger is one that her students have now become a part of – and her passion is contagious. We’d like to thank the National Education Association for helping to get the word out.
The 2011 Bread Art Project has been an incredible success – and it’s only half over! The Grain Foods Foundation was able to secure Teri Hatcher as the Project spokesperson and there have been two very successful media events – one in Los Angeles and one in New York. Teri’s support and these events continue to garner media attention around the partnership and Project – and thus drive art submissions and donations to Share Our Strength*. But others are also doing their part.
Join Sara and all others who are indulging their creativity to help end childhood hunger by making your own Bread Art. Do it often – and spread the word!
*The Grain Foods Foundation will donate $50,000 to Share Our Strength and will make an additional $1 donation for every piece of bread art submitted and approved on breadartproject.com between April 1 and June 30, 2011 (up to a maximum total donation of $100,000).
