Fighting Hunger with The Bread Art Project

I’m delighted to announce the launch of The Bread Art Project! Now in its third year, this campaign was created by the Grain Foods Foundation, an organization dedicated to advancing the public’s understanding of the beneficial role grain-based foods play in our diet. The campaign was designed to help increase awareness of the growing hunger problem in our country and for the second year in a row, the campaign is benefitting Share Our Strength*!
The Bread Art Project enables consumers to create a personalized piece of bread art – at no cost – by uploading a favorite drawing or photo, or designing a new one using a digital slice of bread as the canvas at www.breadartproject.com. It’s a really cool concept – and website – so please be sure to check it out for yourself! New this year, the Grain Foods Foundation has created a ‘Face Hunger’ app on Facebook to personalize the reality of childhood hunger by applying the statistic to your friends. It’s an incredibly powerful visual; check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/GoWithTheGrain.

Additionally, we’re thrilled to be working with TV’s Teri Hatcher, this year’s Bread Art Project spokesperson! Teri will launch the campaign on April 16 in Los Angeles, California, and will work hard to help us reach our goal of 50,000 pieces of bread art to support Share Our Strength. So please, make bread art early, and make it often!
*The Grain Foods Foundation will donate $50,000 to Share Our Strength and will make an additional $1 donation for every piece of bread art submitted and approved on breadartproject.com between April 1 and June 30, 2011 (up to a maximum total donation of $100,000).
