Share Our Strength Announces Bradford Thompson as National Spokesperson for its 2009 National Touring Dinner Series
Bradford Thompson, a 2006 James Beard Award Winning Chef, became involved with Share Our Strength in 1988, and has remained actively involved with the organization ever since.
"As chefs, we have the ability to help more than 12 million children who may not know when their next meal will come by doing what we love to do most," he says.
His passion for the cause led him to create Share Our Strength's A Tasteful Pursuit, a national touring dinner series to end childhood hunger. Now in its fifth year the tour features some of the nation's top chefs: Daniel Boulud, Michael Symon, Michelle Bernstein, Charlie Palmer and many others.
In 2005, the organization honored him as its Outstanding Chef of 2005 for his extraordinary contributions to the national organization and his efforts to ending childhood hunger in his community.
A national award-winning chef, Thompson has cooked at some of the most well-known restaurants—most recently at Mary Elaine's at The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he earned the prestigious Five-Diamond designation by the American Automobile Association, The Mobile 5-star Award and the esteemed Grand Award from Wine Spectator Magazine.
Thompson has a number of accolades behind his name. He was named of Food & Wine Magazine's Best New Chefs of 2004, and received the James Beard Award: Best Chef Southwest in 2006. And, though he is ecstatic about these recognitions, he still cites mentoring the young chefs he's taken under his wing, and watching them climb to great levels of culinary success as his proudest accomplishments since working in the industry.
Thompson kicked off the fifth season of A Tasteful Pursuit at Lever House Restaurant on January 26 in New York. He will also participate in dinners throughout the country.
